The vineyards are getting colourful, the leaves and grapes of Cabernet Mitos started getting red!
Most of the vines has finished flowering, everything went well and nice. So far everything is going well in the vintage 2010 in our vineyards
Weinberge nach dem Hagel, ursprünglich hochgeladen von WinzerblogA few days ago a hailstorm came over southern palatina and destroyd more than 1000 hectars vineyard. In the centre of the hailstorm you are not able to find a leaf! This is the most dramatic situation you can imagine for a winegrower!
The vintage 2010 is on its way, everything went well so far, next big thing coming up is flowering.
As you can see, the pinot gris is allready in the bath tub and is waiting for you!!Young Pinot gris vines waiting to be planted in the vineyards last week.
I think most of the germans takes at least 5 hours a year to watch all the Sissi movies with Romy Schneider and Karl Heinz Böhm running in german TV in advent season!!
Lean back and enjoy the sound of the language and the coulours of this short trailer.
So if you are going to visit the EWBC later this year in Vienna you might feel somtimes being part of this film.
Original german language version:
Welcome Pinot blanc 2010, hopefully we will produce again a award winning wine from this vines like 2009
We warmly welcome the signs of spring in our vineyards. Finally the growing season begins, the buds begin to open!!
Chardonnay is the first to go!
Sometimes it just needs a closer look to see there is allready some activity in the vineyard! The vines startet way back in march with bleeding. We are waiting for the bud break!Thinking back in 2009 the bud break was happening arround mid April, back in 2007 bud break was around april 11th. Having a hard and long winter this season 09/10, it could be we still have to wait some time …
still waiting for the shoot, yet it seems it will take some more days.
It sounds like a international game, but as a fact of history, and Austria being part of the third Reich it was the national soccerfinal taking place in the Praterstadium today known as Ernst Happel stadium. Rapid Wien won in 1941 the german soccer championships of the third Reich. Still today a lot of myths are told about this final.
If you go to EWBC 2010 in Vienna you might go to the Ernst Happel stadium fomer known as Praterstadion were a lot of historic events took place. If you like to have more detailed informations about the Ernst Happel stadium please check this article at Wikipedia.
I think evereybody who owns of a tv or a radio has heard this soundtrack of the movie “the third man” Even 60 years after production of this film, the sound is still a unbelivable catchy song. If you are visiting the ewbc Conference you might take a guided tour in the footsteps of this movie, or visit the third man museum. Meanwhile check out this video …..
Looking arround, spring can’t be to far away ….
If I think about austrian winebloggers, the very very first one I have to mention is Bernhard Fiedler.
Bernhard Fiedlers We(in)blog is a wineryblog, I would even say the best german language wineryblog existing! Talking about Austrian wine, internet and web 2.0 without mentioning his name would be a joke.
So if you are able to understand the german language, Bernhard Fiedlers We(in)blog should have a place in your blogroll and Feedreader!keep looking »
