The vineyards are getting colourful, the leaves and grapes of Cabernet Mitos started getting red!
As you can see, the pinot gris is allready in the bath tub and is waiting for you!!Young Pinot gris vines waiting to be planted in the vineyards last week.
We warmly welcome the signs of spring in our vineyards. Finally the growing season begins, the buds begin to open!!
Chardonnay is the first to go!
We won’t produce any icewine this vintage, we still have enough. Still, a lot of other winerys will give it a try this year, and it looks good. It won’t take to long this year to get the necessary frost.
It is not to much what is needed, just temperatures below -7 °C, a few helping hands, and still nice and healthy grapes hanging on the vine.

During the last night the very first snow came down. Reason enough to get the camera and go out into the cold …
I haven’t be alone outside, my dog left his place in the winecellar and and joined me for the little walk.

During the next days harvesting is going to be hot here in the winery.
Finally we are starting to pick Riesling.
Harvesting by hand at places like THIS one, we hope to get at least Spätlese qualities.
In late afternoon a harvestingmachine will also start picking grapes for basic quality wines
It seems to be the cool climate is coming back to germany. After several years harvesting grapes under warm conditions we are back to normal. No need to think about cooling down the mash or grapes, everything is just fine. The Riesling loves this conditions!
On monday we wil start harvesting grape varieties like Pinot gris, Pinot meunier and Pinot noir for Rosé.
The Frühburgunder (Pinot precoce noir) harvested in august is allready pressed an made its way down into the winecellar.
